COVID-19 SAFETY GUIDELINES

Updated May 5th, 2022:

As we learn to live in a new normal with COVID-19, Blue Nose Marathon will continue to do our part to keep our community safe. There are several things our participants can do to keep themselves safe as well. We ask you follow the guidelines below and please respect the comfort level of others and our volunteers.

Pre-Race

  • At Kit Pick Up, we strongly encourage everyone to wear a mask given we are inside.
  • Kit Pick Up will not be permitted the day of or morning of any race.

Race Day

Start Area:

  • Participants are strongly encouraged to wear a mask at the start line.
  • We ask ALL participants and Support Crew to wear a mask at the start line of the Youth Run. Please keep in mind that many of our youth are not eligible for vaccination yet.
  • Maintain distance at the start line. The start line is where there is any given mass and when participants are gathered for any amount of time.
  • Wait a few seconds for the race to start and participants to start spreading out. Participants will naturally spread out due to the various paces they are running.

On Course:

  • Maintain distance from others while running on the route. Participants spread out quite quickly.
  • Water stations will be available for all races. We will be using cups for 2022.
  • Bring your own hydration if you are not comfortable using a hydration station.

Finish area:

  • Water will be available at the finish line for all distances.
  • Participants will be handed their medal after crossing the finish line.
  • Alternatively, there will be a table with medals if self-serve is preferred.
  • Participants will be required to collect their own nutrition after crossing the finish line.
  • Bag storage will be offered in 2022 for participants.
  • Age award prizes will be offered in 2022.

Other things participants can expect to see:

  • Hand sanitizer stations. These will be placed at high touch point surfaces, such as portable washrooms.
  • Event personal with PPE (gloves and hand sanitizer).
  • Communication leading up the event about COVID-19 safety protocols and what participants need to know for race day.

The following services will not be offered during the pandemic:

  • Race day Kit Pick Up
